Seeing Peter and the Starcatcher

Students attended Peter and the Starcatcher on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.  Prior to the show, students participated in the “Big Apple Crunch,” a citywide world record attempt at the most apples crunched at one time.

After the production, students recreated fifteen major scenes from the show for students who were unable to attend and as a refresher.

The orphans are treated terribly in London and are captured for trade on a ship

Mrs. Bumbrake and Molly are squashed in their cabin as their ship sails
Pirates are discovered on Molly's father's ship

Molly sees an orphan in a crate being boarded onto her ship

The Black Stache, leader of the pirates, finds sand in a trunk and wonders where his treasure is

Molly and her father communicate via magic amulet.  Molly's father warns of the pirates

Everyone is tossed at sea

The pirates board Molly's ship

Everyone is turned into a mermaid

Molly and the orphans meet Mr. Grin, a crocodile

Molly's father is captured by the Mollusks

Peter swims in a golden lake and listens to a story from a giant mermaid.   He is given the name "Pan."

The Stache gets his hand caught in a trunk

The Lost Boys and pirates decide to stay on the island.  Molly is reunited with her father, but she remains very sad

Molly and Peter say goodbye

Pre-Show Activities, Peter and the Starcatcher

Flushing High School has a partnership with the Theater Development Fund (TDF) which provides tickets to a Broadway show free of charge to high school classes.  TDF hosts a teacher workshop prior to the production so teachers can better prepare their students to see the show.  TDF also funds a unique teaching artist program that brings professional working artists into the classroom for a total of four sessions, to be supplemented by four show prep sessions organized by the teacher.  This year an advanced drama class was selected to see "Peter and the Starcatcher."  Below are images of students acting out various roles in the show.
